Oh, and Susan Dey is coming over...

My brother was in town this weekend to do a craft festival at Belleayre Mountain, so I went down for the weekend. My Uncle Carlo was also in town, and cousin Lara came up with her sons.

My mother planned a big dinner and invited some other local friends up. Sometime Saturday morning, she hit me with the sentence that titles this post.

OK, then.

All had a delightful evening. Mom put on a hell of a spread, the beer and wine flowed freely, as did the conversation.

As far as the celebrity factor? None. Not like anyone gives a shit what I think of them, but I would say the best thing I could think about a celebrity is "normal."

Susan and her husband Bernard were 100% normal. Really, if you had no idea, you would have had no idea. (My brother, for example, has no idea. Yes, he knows what the phrases "Partridge Family" and "LA Law" mean, but they were never part of his life. He was 14 when her Grace Van Owen died. I doubt he's ever seen a rerun of either.) A key cast-member of two different shows that were each iconic in their own generation, and nothing even came up in any conversation. The city of LA itself came up, as in why they were happy to leave, but no "back when I was doing XYZ show" type of stuff.

I like that.

I hope to see them again, just because they're nice new neighbors.
