Bwahahahaha

Justin Timberlake kicked ass on SNL last night.

Here are the winning skits:

Yeah, he hit it.

I still can't believe this happened.

This is funny, but pales compared to the previous two.

It's sad to think that if SNL just had 22 interesting guests on a year, instead of just whoring for the latest idiot with a movie coming out that week, they could get a lot more of this. Instead, we get 3 or 4 great shows a year, and the rest of the time you're waiting for the Digital Short and the news, and maybe the band.

Awwww yeaaahhhhh

At this point, they should just rename SNL - maybe call it "Andy Samberg and some other idiots."

Holy crap this keeps cracking me up.

"never thought I'd be on a boat..."

Gotta give it up to Seth Myers for this segment of the Weekend Update

So, there you go. One and a half hours of SNL, in a nutshell.

SNL Blogging

Last night's episode was kind of meh. Tim McGraw was decent in a couple skits, Ludacris and T-Pain were awful.

What I want to know is, why was this one not aired?

That was pretty good.

SNL Blogging

I've been remiss, but after the first two or three disasters, Saturday Night Live has really picked up the pace.

A quick recap of the season before yesterday:
Ep1: Michael Phelps. Sucked, with few exceptions.

Ep2: James Franco. Sucked, with few exceptions.

Ep3: Anna Faris. Sucked, with few exceptions.

Ep4: Anne Hathaway. That's more like it. Some misses, of course, but I never wondered "who the fuck approved that?!?!"

Ep5: Josh Brolin. This is the one where Sarah Palin was on. I was at the 3 Dorks Down reunion, but watched it later on DVR. Good, smart skits, and Brolin was funny.

Notice a trend here? Good actors, good skits? What a concept!

Ep6: Jon Hamm. Also a good episode. But I must say, Coldplay was the funniest thing here. I have never seen a worse performance in my life. Oh, wait, yes I have. At a KARAOKE night!!! To say Chris Martin can't sing is to say that water is wet. Erica and I were losing our shit, it was so bad.

Ep7: Ben Affleck. Good stuff. Erica and I went out that night, and it was her turn to be driver, so I was pretty shitty when we started this episode. I swore it was Paul Rudd at first. I had some serious beer goggles on. Here is Affleck doing Olbermann:

Good times.

Yesterday:
Ep8: Paul Rudd. Of course it was. I had to listen to Erica "insist" that the host was Ben Affleck all night. Guuuhhhhhh. Here is the Digital Short, which was brilliantly insane as always:

Alrighty then!

Here's Justin Timberlake in a great skit:

And here's Beyonce and her "dancers:"

Beyonce? Yum....

So, we're caught up. They've really picked up the pace since the first three episodes. Good stuff.

SNL recap Week 4

Tina Fey was great as usual.

There were actually a few decent skits, including the bailout press conference.

Andy Samberg is a demented genius.

Anne Hathaway was a gamer.

Finally, what the fuck happened to the Killers? That was awful.

SNL recap Weeks 2 and 3

Forgot to do this last week.

SNL Week 2
Opening skit, McCain "approving" all his bullshit commercials, was pretty funny. Everything else was horrible, with the exception of Kings of Leon. OK, the Digital Short was passable, where he had the small weenie or something. James Franco has no charisma, and from what I can tell, no actual ability. Of course he was decent as the hateable douchebag in the Spiderman movies. He is a hateable douchebag! That solves that mystery.

SNL Week 3
The opening was fantastic. Tina Fey is out of her fucking mind as Sarah Palin. Everything else was terrible, except one that was a "meh." The one in the boat, where he's supposed to kill her; that one had a couple giggles. What the hell is going on here? This is the result of 5.5 straight days of work by a huge team of "comedy" writers and performers? Anna Faris is, um WHO? The whole episode, all Erica and I could think of was how much she looks like Britney Spears post-hottie but pre-total-meltdown. Then, about 10 minutes before the whole thing was over, Erica recognized her as the ditz in a couple scenes from Lost in Translation. So we had that going for us, which was nice.

And don't get me started on Duffy. What the fuck is that trainwreck?!?! No rhythm, no talent, no voice, shit songs. Love those tits-based record contracts. Awesome job, SNL. Just awesome.

More SNL

Here are the other two good skits:

SNL recap

UPDATE: Got the full-length one. "And I can see Russia from my house" has got to be one of the funniest lines ever.

The opening was fantastic. Tina Fay rocked Sarah Palin, right down to the voice/accent.

After that, it was fucking terrible until a fake T-mobile commercial (excellent) and one of Samberg's insane digital shorts (even more insane than usual; I liked it).

We went through entire skits without even a grudging giggle, and I couldn't help but wonder how did they got past Wednesday's review, much less to the actual show? I mean, I've read behind-the-scenes accounts of a typical week at SNL, and it's a brutally competitive environment. You start the with 100s of ideas that get pitched, and they slowly get whittled down to the ones that will make Saturday, and even then fully fleshed-out skits get axed at dress rehearsal just hours before the broadcast. So how the fuck are these duds the winners?
