So I'm listening to ESPN radio as usual, and an ad comes up for a local nightclub. The music kicks in, and it's Zoot Suit Riot by the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. "Hey," I think, "That would be a fun show to see!"
Cue voiceover: "Coming to Vapor, on August 22nd, the Squirrel Nut Zippers."
What?! Not one person who threw this ad together knew the difference? Or did they, and were they hoping people who vaguely remember the swing resurgence of the early-mid 90s would remember that they liked that one song, but not the name of the band? Even so, it's not like people wouldn't remember Hell.
As cynical as I can be about advertising, my money's on stupidity.
